Python vs King Cobra: Our world is full of incredible creatures and snakes are one of the most dangerous and mysterious among them. They are skilled predators and do not shy away from attacking. A single drop of venom from these snakes can kill animals, including humans. However, these snakes also hunt their own kind. In a rare incident, a python tried to prey on a huge 12-foot-long king cobra in Halaneeru village in Udupi district of Karnataka. The incident took place on August 7 and created panic among the villagers. The villagers informed a snake catcher and reptile specialist named Shankar, popularly known as Snake Shankar, who rushed to the spot and separated the two reptiles.

Giant python tried to swallow ball python

Muttamma Shedthi, the owner of a paddy field in Halaneeru, witnessed a unique incident involving a python and a king cobra. The python had managed to devour the king cobra’s head but was struggling with the rest of its body. When the python tried to strangle the cobra, it was caught in a bind as the cobra wrapped itself around its tail.

The villager informed Snake Shankar, who resolved the situation.

King cobra and python released into the wild

After separating the two giant snakes, Shakar was able to release them safely in the forest near Anezari with the help of the villagers.

Python

The Indian python, also known as Python molurus, thrives in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Unlike other snakes, this powerful snake does not possess venom. This creature, which can stretch up to 6 meters in length, prefers to hide in the silence of forests and grasslands. Interestingly, it uses a hunting technique called “envelopment” to catch its prey, while its venom means it poses no danger to us humans.

King Cobra

The king cobra, which we commonly know as Ophiophagus hannah, is a champion in its own right. It wears the crown for the longest venomous snake on our planet and can grow to an incredible 5.5 meters in length. It is native to South and Southeast Asia and feeds primarily on other snakes. The snake’s distinctive hood and its powerful neurotoxic venom are its trademarks. It is worth noting that its venomous bite can be fatal and poses a significant risk to humans.
