2K has removed the most annoying feature of Civ 7 and hopefully paved the way for other publishers

Addition by subtraction can be very effective, especially when it comes to annoying game features. 2K announces that the most annoying aspect of the launch of Civilization 6 will be no return for Civilization 7 has sparked excitement throughout the community and will hopefully inspire other publishers to follow suit.

We are, of course, if we talk about the 2K launcher, which is a big thorn in the side of Civilization 6 players for years. Not only is it one of many seemingly unnecessary publisher launchers, but it’s also one of the biggest of them all, causing players to actively seek ways around it.

To the best news civilization Fans have heard for some time that the 2K launcher has been cut off Civilization 6 on Steam via an update, and an upcoming patch is set to do the same on the Epic Store. And what’s even better is that this isn’t just a pre-release publicity stunt for Civilization 7, as that game won’t feature the publisher’s custom launcher at all, taking us all back to a time when you only had to boot the game once for it to boot up.

The exciting news was shared with the community on Reddit and the reaction was exactly what you would expect – fans fell to their knees in joy in the middle of Walmart and praised Lord Sid for his good deeds. The only thing everyone was worried about was the option to choose which DirectX version to launch the game with at launch. However, this option has now been moved directly to Steam, proving once again how useless these external launchers are to the end user.

We desperately hope that game publishers, including 2K themselves, will wake up to this reaction and finally see the truth. Nobody likes being dragged out of their main launcher to launch the game they already purchased within that ecosystem. Nobody likes having a dozen different publisher apps for every game they play. Nobody likes having their PC’s performance impacted for no good reason. Nobody likes publisher launchers.

Unfortunately, 2K has been so haphazard in solving this problem that we would be shocked if we were to move away from custom launchers. Just look at one of my favorite series, BioShock. The first few games don’t have the 2K launcher, but Infinite does, and so do the remastered versions of BioShock 1 and 2. Now 2K has decided to pull the launcher. Civilization 6 Launcher after years of fans complaining about it, but for all we know it can reintroduce to Civilization 7 six months after launch.

You really can’t draw any logical conclusions because there isn’t much logic to be found, but we take Civilization 6 And Civilization 7 for the small victory that it is, and pray that we see more of it in the future.
