new York – After spending weeks on opposite sides of the country, Jennifer Lopez reportedly made a brief appearance at Ben Affleck’s private birthday party amid speculation that the two may be divorcing.
The 55-year-old pop star from the Bronx stopped by the 52-year-old Oscar winner’s “small birthday party at home” on Thursday – which was also attended by his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their three children, an insider told People.
“It’s exactly what he wanted. He didn’t want to go out to celebrate,” the source said. “Jennifer Lopez came by to congratulate him.”
But for J.Lo, the day wasn’t just about celebrating her estranged husband. On Friday, she posted several Instagram stories showing everything she did the night before: posing with friends and enjoying the Bruno Mars concert at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Last month, Affleck and Lopez were still wearing their wedding rings despite spending their second wedding anniversary and birthday on opposite coasts. The “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer was in the Hamptons with friends for her birthday on July 24 – the same day she closed the sale of her New York penthouse and Affleck closed escrow on a new $20.5 million Pacific Palisades estate.
In May, it was revealed that the A-listers – who were engaged in the early 2000s, reconciled in 2021 and married the following summer – were living under separate roofs.
In June, it was reported that they were trying to sell their $60 million mansion in Beverly Hills, California, leading many to suspect that a divorce was imminent.
Last week, TMZ reported that the couple had not even spoken to each other while their respective business managers tried to negotiate a divorce settlement.
“Ben will always like Jen, but he knows the marriage is over,” an insider told Us Weekly, while another source said the move to his new home marks “the end of the relationship.”
