Doha: The Qatar Publishers and Distributors Forum of the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Children’s Literature Center, is launching the second edition of the Summer Reading Camp from tomorrow Sunday to Wednesday.
This year’s camp is entitled “Reading through the ages” and includes numerous activities and competitions for children and young people.
The aim is to promote reading and writing and to raise awareness of these skills. In addition, participants will be familiarized with the stages of writing development and the tools used at each age.
The Director of the Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum, Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, stressed the importance of the camp as it provides children with opportunities to broaden their horizons and explore the world of writing in its different stages.
He reiterated that the camp is not just a summer activity but rather a step to help children inculcate the culture of reading and build an educated and aware generation in line with the Ministry’s vision in this regard.
For her part, the Director of the Children’s Literature Center, Asmaa Al Kuwari, stressed the support of the Ministry of Culture for children’s activities and highlighted the positive response of the children’s parents to the program.
She stressed that the Centre’s participation is part of its firm commitment to strengthen the role of literacy and to provide a rich and unique cultural experience that leaves a deep impression in the hearts of children.
