Students in arrears in a bind as MKU delays release of revaluation results

MADURAI: With Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) delaying the release of final exam results, many of them are finding it difficult to apply for higher studies or take up the jobs they got through on-campus placement. Several students expressed concern over the delay in their revaluation results even as several colleges across the state have completed admissions for the final exams on or before August 7.

Speaking to TNIE, M Nithya (name changed), a BBA student from an MKU independent college, said that the university is yet to release her revaluation results due to which she is unable to apply for PG courses. “I was behind in statistics in my fourth semester and appeared for the exam later in my sixth semester. Since I was just two marks short, I applied for revaluation in mid-July. However, the revaluation results are yet to be released and I am unable to apply for jobs or further studies,” she said.

Karthik, a student who completed his MBA course from MKU, said he got a job with a company through campus placement. “However, I cannot join the company until I get my provisional certificate from the university. I fear that I may lose my job offer if the revaluation results are further delayed. Currently, I have no answers to the company’s queries on my documents and also cannot confirm my joining date,” he said, adding that autonomous government-aided colleges had released their results a month ago and these students had also got jobs.

Responding to the issue, MKU’s head of examinations (i/c) T Dharmaraj said the university is currently evaluating the revaluation papers and the results will be released within a week. “After this, students can get their consolidated marks and provisional certificates. As of now, the Tamil Nadu government has not announced any last date for applying for PG courses in the state. Hence, students will have the option to join PG courses when the results are out,” he said.
