Filming of “John Wick 5” begins in 2025 — World of Reel

Although John Wick presumably – SPOILER – dies in “Chapter 4,” there will actually be a fifth John Wick movie.

It was confirmed that filming for “John Wick 5” will begin in 2025. Keanu Reeves will once again play the lead role. Are we surprised? Of course not.

The R-rated, nearly three-hour-long film “John Wick: Chapter 4” grossed nearly $200 million domestically and nearly half a billion dollars worldwide. In today’s Hollywood, a franchise ending with such numbers is almost unthinkable.

And yet, right after the release of “Chapter 4,” you had director Chad Stahelski (via Happy Sad Confused) basically ended the list of more “Wick” movies by saying there had to be a “real reason” to bring Wick back. Stahelski added that he didn’t want to insult the audience’s intelligence and that as a viewer he would “feel cheated” if they made another sequel.

However, a month later, Lionsgate President Joe Drake confirmed that a fifth John Wick film was “in development.” Just imagine.

In October 2023, Stahelski changed his mind – he confirmed that he had already written down ideas for five more John Wick sequels! Yes, chapters 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. How many more murders can Wick commit? How far can you stretch this franchise? Quite a lot, as it turns out.

On November 14, 2023, we received the official notification from the Lionsgate boss that the script for “John Wick: Chapter 5” be writtenThey started immediately after the WGA strike ended and wasted no time.

The character John Wick has essentially turned into a supernatural being who can be repeatedly shot, stabbed, mauled, and buried and still survive. There have been numerous moments throughout the series where Wick should have died, but miraculously got back up and carried on. Wick’s kill count on the series currently stands at 439 victims.
