John Peter Nygaard, 72, of Ocala, FL, died at his home on Friday, August 9, 2024. John was born on September 25, 1951 at Camp McCoy, Sparta WI. He grew up in Fisher, MN and Hendrum, MN where he graduated from high school.
John married Connie Magnuson in 1969. John served in the National Guard from 1969 to 1975. He received an associate degree in accounting from Moorhead Tech School. John raised his son Aaron with his beloved wife Connie, to whom he was married for 53 years. They resided in Perley, MN, Moorhead, MN, Fargo, ND and moved to the warmer climate of Ocala, FL in 2002.
He enjoyed playing tennis, running, and all kinds of sports. He also enjoyed working in his garden and watching his Minnesota Vikings continue their elusive quest for a Super Bowl victory. He worked a variety of jobs and retired to his house and garden a decade ago.
John is survived by his son Aaron Nygaard, daughter-in-law Jaqueline Nygaard and grandson Oscar Nygaard of Portland, Oregon; his sister Julie Olek of Moorhead, Minnesota and his brother Paul Nygaard of Waubun, Minnesota.
John was preceded in death by his wife Connie, his sister Kristine Nygaard of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and his parents Robert and Carolyn Nygaard of Hendrum, Minnesota.
