Ella’s Americana Folk Art Café in Tampa, Florida.

Eight months after entering the market, the well-known restaurant Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe in Seminole Heights appears to have found the right buyer – and will close on September 1st.

On social media, the restaurant — a neighborhood cornerstone for 15 years — expressed its deep gratitude and heavy heart over the street’s end, inviting the community to share one last meal and drink and “celebrate the memories that made our time together in Seminole Heights so much fun.”

As previously reported, the restaurant’s clientele has been as diverse as the neighborhood since opening day, and the menu has always been a surefire way to satisfy an appetite for Southern comfort food. The Sunday brunches — which often saw lines forming outside 5119 N Nebraska Ave. — were legendary.

Late last year, co-founder Melissa Deming told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that it was time for her to start a new chapter in her life, adding that launching her concept, which wins the Best Of the Bay award every year, was one of the hardest decisions she’s ever made.

“I’m honored to have had their support for so many years,” she said of the love from the neighborhood since opening day.

This is a developing post. Go cry into a BBQ Rib Bloody Mary on Sunday, folks.

Ella's Americana Folk Art Café in Tampa, Florida is for sale.
