Tri-Cities, WA-

The MOD Pizza location in Kennewick is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Benton County Canine Shelter on August 16th.

25% of all proceeds from the sale will be donated directly to the shelter and people also had the opportunity to fill the shelter’s van with all kinds of pet supplies.

“We’re very, very grateful to them for setting this up for us. They’re basically helping us with whatever we need, with money for the veterinary practice and money for our shelter in general, for the dogs,” said Josh Castilleja, director of the Benton County Canine Shelter.

The dog shelter also has expansion plans to better serve the many needy dogs in our area.

“It’s a constant trying to keep up. I mean, as soon as we get one out, we have to get 10 more. Then there are the injured dogs that have gone through the roof in the last two years, last year, so we’re also asking for donations for our vet at Vista Veterinary Hospital. We just have to try to move as fast as we can, but still slow enough to give them the right homes and not rush anything,” Castilleja said.

For only $95, any dog from the shelter can be adopted, including microchipping, vaccinations and neutering.

Thanks to community donations and fundraisers like this one, the shelter is also able to provide adopters or trial adopters with beds, harnesses, leashes, toys and much more.

“Give them a chance. We always do trial adoptions, so nothing is final when you get a dog from our shelter. So, yes, give them a chance and see what happens. You never know, you might meet your best friend where you least expect it,” Castilleja said.

Dogs like Sweet Pea and Sol (pictured above), who have been at the shelter for over a year, are waiting to meet you.
