DILLON, SC – Positive insights helped the Richmond Senior High School football team score many points in Friday’s practice game.
The Raiders scored three interceptions and two passing touchdowns to win 14-7 against West Florence High School in the Jamboree of Champions at Dillon High School.
An early lapse by the Richmond defense on fourth-and-long gave the Knights their only point. On West Florence’s next five possessions, the Raiders forced three interceptions and two punts.
A trio of seniors – AJ Covington, Keidreion Crump and Joe Parsons – combined for the three interceptions.
Covington’s pick near the halfway line resulted in a 42-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Evan Hodges to junior wide receiver Amer Morrison.
Parsons played a role in Crump’s takeaway by pitching the ball up and facilitating an easy tip drill. The final play of the practice game ended with Parsons’ pick, a sliding catch of a ball thrown short to the intended receiver.
Junior wideout Jayden Hamilton converted a short pass from Hodges into the right flat after a West Florence punt for an 84-yard touchdown. Senior kicker Billy West made both point-after attempts.
