LOS ANGELES — Most of us have asked ourselves what we would do if we won the lottery. Would we talk about it? How would we spend all the money? Would we make the world a better place or buy weird things?
In “Jackpot!”, the latest film from Prime Video, it is the year 2030 and in California, Katie (played by Awkwafina) finds a winning ticket for the multi-billion dollar lottery. But there is a catch: whoever finds and kills Katie before the sun goes down gets to keep the billions.
“This is a chance to hit it big,” says Noel, a lottery security agent played by John Cena.
Awkwafina has some advice for any future lottery winners, whether their lives are literally on the line or not.
“Definitely keep a low profile. Don’t overdo it, right? Or is that what they say about crime? I don’t know! So, don’t do too much to scare them off in the beginning, but once you hit the jackpot, you should do most of it,” she says. “Have fun! Go to Benihana… have fun. Live, love, laugh… just get a Benihana grill. You know what I mean? Throw yourself a party. Learn how to make a volcano onion,” she said in an interview with Spectrum News.

What would be the jackpot in life for Hollywood stars who seemingly have everything? Cena tells Spectrum News that he lives out his lottery win every day.
“I’m very conscious of that. I try to act accordingly. I try to respect the opportunities that are given to me and the people that help me. If there’s one person who is the jackpot in my life, it’s my wife,” he said.
Awkwafina and the film’s director, Paul Feig, told Spectrum News their jackpot was making “Jackpot!”
“For me, it’s the opportunity to work with people I love and admire,” Feig said. “I’ve just worked with amazing people on my previous projects. Nora (Awkwafina) and I met about four or five years ago and we really hit it off. We needed to do something together. When I got this script, Nora was already involved in it, so that’s my jackpot.”
Jackpot! is now available on Prime Video. It stars Awkwafina, John Cena and Simu Liu. It is directed by Paul Feig and features cameo appearances by Seann William Scott and Machine Gun Kelly.
