The mysterious source of flashFlash’s powers, the Speed Force, have been redefined countless times over the years to discover what makes him the fastest man alive. Now, following a shocking discovery, the Speed Force has been extensively updated, fundamentally changing the nature of Flash’s speed.
In The Flash #11 by Simon Spurrier and Ramón Pérez, Flash has been manipulated by cosmic beings known as the Arc Angles who want to destroy time. As Flash races through reality to do their bidding, they reveal to him the true origin of the Speed Force. The Arc Angles explain that The Speed Force comes from a being called Deep Changeand that the entire Flash family was chosen as his mediators so that he could experience life through them.
With this revelation, the origin of the Speed Force is finally known. However, it also means that Another possible origin of the Speed Force was retroactively changed – and maybe that’s for the best.

The Flash: Rebirth by Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Sciver served as the long-awaited return of Barry Allen as the Flash after he was Last crisis Event. During this story, Barry learned from fellow speedster Max Mercury that He created the Speed Force when he was first struck by lightning. What makes this proposed origin of Flash’s power source so controversial is that it positions Barry Allen as the only “chosen one” of the Speed Force. The source of every speedster’s power therefore revolves around Barry, making them secondary to him as their intermediaries.

With the new origin of the Speed Force in The Flash #11, no member of the Flash family is more important than the rest. Instead of being born from Barry’s lightning, the Speed Force emanates from the Deep Change, a cosmic being that exists outside of reality itself. This creature chose Barry Allen to be the Flash, just as it chose every member of the Flash family. The Speed Force coming from the Deep Change and not just one man makes it a much cooler power source for the Scarlet Speedster, who welcomes the entire Flash family into the cosmic hierarchy of the DC Universe.

The Flash
Flash is the superhero name of the DC Comics character who uses unprecedented speed combined with a dimensional power called the “Speed Force” to overpower his opponents. The original Flash appeared in 1939 as Jay Garrick. While he was surpassed in popularity and status by Barry Allen, Flash is a character who has experienced many of his alternate selves. The character is typically seen as part of the Justice League in almost all incarnations.
