A creative Pokemon Fan recently gave Onix a D20-inspired makeover, reinterpreting the iconic monster as if it were made of dice. Since the 90s, the Pokemon The community loves fan art and this trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, as there are currently over 1,000 Pokémon that can be reinterpreted in different ways, and the number is constantly growing over the years.
Onix is a Rock/Ground type creature that first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue. In the following generation, Onix received an evolution, the Steel/Ground-type Pokémon Steelix, which can be obtained by trading the Pokémon while equipped with a Metal Coat. Although Onix is a powerful animal in the games, it is best known for its participation in the Pokemon TV series as one of Brock’s Pokémon. In both the TV series and the games, Brock is the gym leader of Pewter City, but in the anime, he quickly joins Ash on his journey and stays with the protagonist for several seasons.

Well, a Pokemon Fan artist ImPrettyNewHere has shared his latest creation with the community: a D20-inspired Onix. This new design is essentially an Onix made of blue dice with 4 to 20 sides. While the creature’s head is still mostly the same as the original design, all other body parts have been replaced, making for a very creative take on the popular creature. ImPrettyNewHere’s fan art was well received by the community, who gave the post over 3,400 upvotes.
D20-Inspired Onix Pokemon Fan Art
This is not the first time a fan has created fan art imagining an alternate form for Onix. Last year, for example, a Pokemon A fan created a baby form for Onix, depicted as a cute, worm-like creature made of stone named Lithlix.
Due to its unique shape, Onix sometimes inspires fans to create fan items based on it. A few months ago, for example, a Pokemon A fan created a life-sized Onix plush toy that was over 15 feet long. The plush toy looked adorable and bore a striking resemblance to the original creature, despite being much smaller than Onix in the games.
In 2022, another fan also made a strange object inspired by the Rock/Ground-type creature: a small Onix made of crystal. This fanwork was inspired by the Crystal Onix, a unique form of the classic creature that appeared in episode 87 of the Pokemon television show.
