Tragic fall of Aaron Hernandez in the trailer for “American Sports Story”

The new trailer for FX’s American Sports History: Aaron Hernandez has been revealed. The 10-part documentary series, which premieres on September 17, will follow the former NFL player through his career, his shocking conviction for the murder of Odin Lloydand death in 2017.

In the teaser from August 14 The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Actor Josh Andres Rivera profiles Aaron in a supercut of clips, comparing his growing public prominence as a tight end for the New England Patriots with his life behind closed doors, where he struggled with dark thoughts and behaviors.

“You don’t know what’s on my mind,” Josh says as Aaron in the trailer. “It’s like a demon. What if God made me like this?”

Aaron, who played for the Patriots from 2010 to 2012, was arrested in the NFL offseason in 2013 and found guilty of Odin’s murder in 2015 (after his arrest in 2013, he was immediately released by the Patriots). Odin and Aaron had met through their partners, as Aaron’s then-fiancée Shayanna Jenkins Hernandez and Odin’s girlfriend Shaneah Jenkins were sisters, and the men were friends before the murder.
