Lesbian American Airlines passenger accidentally placed on no-fly list

Lesbian American Airlines passenger accidentally placed on no-fly list

Erin Wright, 24, is still waiting for a refund from American Airlines after she was denied boarding her flight two months ago. The reason? She was accused of having “sexual relations with a man during a flight.”

Wright recounted the wild story in a TikTok video posted last week, as reported News from the gay city. When Wright tried to board a flight to New Orleans, where her sister was celebrating her bachelorette party, she was unable to check in for her flight. She went to the help desk, where the bizarre situation unfolded.

“(The agent) says, ‘Ma’am, I’m really sorry to tell you this, but you have actually been banned from flying on American Airlines,'” she said.

She was stranded at a New Mexico airport for eight hours and had to shell out an additional $1,000 to change her flight. Furthermore, no one could give Wright an explanation because it was a matter of “internal security.”

“They’re sending me through the craziest loopholes to figure this out,” Wright said after contacting customer service, customer support and corporate security.

12 days later, a ridiculous statement appeared in her inbox.

“Then I finally got an email from corporate security saying I was suspended for having sexual relations with a man while under the influence of alcohol on a flight,” Wright continued. “Well, let me tell you, I’m a 24-year-old lesbian. Do you see me? Do I have sexual relations with any man? No.”

To get herself off the no-fly list, Wright was asked to file an official appeal. How do you prove you’re a lesbian? Well, you get your mother to send an email vouching for you, of course!

Wright was removed from the no-fly list earlier this month, but she still has to pay a whopping $1,000 because she rebooked a flight for the same day and the airline refused to refund her.

“It was an extremely frustrating experience and American Airlines did not compensate me for the inconvenience or for the additional flight I had to book due to their error.”

Since she created her first TikTok video on August 9, which has now been viewed nearly a million times, Wright says she has earned just over $1,000 from the app. But the airline isn’t letting her get away that easily.

“I’m looking into a lot of the things you guys recommended, like contacting the Department of Transportation to file a complaint or suing them in small claims court,” Wright said in an update video. “I’m just really grateful for all of your help and for enlarging the video.”
