Taylen Green and Malachi Singleton praise Bobby Petrino and his contribution to Arkansas

Quarterbacks Taylen Green And Malachi Singleton both learned a new offensive during this season break with Arkansas bring back Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator after serving as head coach of the Razorbacks just over a decade ago.

Singleton is entering his second season with the Razorbacks after wearing a redshirt last year, while Green is Boise State this offseason as the team’s likely starting quarterback. Still, both were impressed with the knowledge Petrino imparted to them after taking over the offense.

“He’s really so smart. If you just spend an hour and a half or two hours with him, he shows you how smart he is,” Singleton said during fall camp. “He’s so knowledgeable, he’s coached in the NFL and in college, so he’s been around so much and worked with so many different quarterbacks. Just the reps, his knowledge, it’s just amazing. It’s really been out of this world.”

There aren’t many coaches in college football who have the experience and offensive prowess of Petrino. His coaching career began in 1983 and has included various jobs as a head coach and offensive coordinator at the college and NFL levels.

Experiences that he has apparently been able to retain well to this day.

“I would say he has an answer to the test. Any questions you have or we have, he has the answers. He just doesn’t wait. He pulls up clips and says, ‘Put on 2009…’ And then it’s that exact piece and we’re like wow,” Green explained.

Green was a standout dual-threat quarterback during his time at Boise State. At 6’6″ and 230 pounds, he brings dual-threat skills, physicality and athleticism to Arkansas’ offense. Over the past two seasons, he has rushed for 3,657 yards and 24 touchdowns, along with 903 yards on the ground and 17 rushing scores.

Now we are joining forces with an OC who will ensure that everyone is on the same page on offense.

“I mean, any questions we have, or any questions a receiver or tight end has, you know he has the answers,” Green said. “Then we have complete confidence in him and we do it and it works. That’s what I love.”

Fans will get their first look at Green and Petrino’s new offense on August 29th when they Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7:30 p.m. ET in a game that will be broadcast on ESPN.
