Tea Party to benefit my sister’s house

Tea Party to benefit my sister’s house

Tried By Fire, Inc. is pleased to announce the third annual Sandy Valentine Par-Tea, scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Chelsea Restaurant. This traditional English afternoon tea includes delicious finger sandwiches, an assortment of pastries, freshly baked scones with fruit jam, and a selection of fine teas. There are also dozens of beautiful teacups to choose from, although guests are encouraged to bring their favorite teacup and tell its story at their table. Hats are not required, but they are fun and add a special elegance to the event.

Created in 2022 by former New Bern resident Sandy Valentine, this popular event once again benefits My Sister’s House, a New Bern transitional home that helps women in conflict with the law build a better future for successful and sustainable reintegration into society through individualized support programs. Since opening in October 2023, My Sister’s House has provided six women with safe housing and referrals to existing community resources for counseling, job training and employment preparation programs, and other services that meet their specific needs and reintegration goals.

Tickets for the Sandy Valentine Afternoon Par-Tea cost $50 per person and can be purchased at www.triedbyfireinc.org/events via EventBrite. Seating is limited, so registration is required by August 28. For those who may not be able to attend, there is an opportunity to make a donation.

The mission of Tried By Fire, Inc. is to reduce recidivism and homelessness among women in conflict with the law, particularly after incarceration, through their safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental program at My Sister’s House on Roundtree Street in New Bern. Tried By Fire, Inc. is a registered 501-c-3 nonprofit organization.
