Topeka Zoo receives “significant donation” for master plan

TOPEKA (KSNT) – On Wednesday, the Topeka Zoo announced it received a “significant donation” to be used to work on the zoo’s next master plan.

The gift, which the zoo calls transformative, comes from the Lumpkin Family Trust, a foundation dedicated to the Grayson Goodwin Lumpkin Barn.

“This generous contribution will enable the zoo to introduce new animals, create fun play areas and offer innovative learning opportunities with a focus on conservation and environmental stewardship,” the zoo wrote in a press release.

The new project is designed to provide interactive experiences for visitors of all ages. The zoo said it plans to use the gift to deepen children’s and families’ appreciation for nature and conservation.

“The Topeka Zoo will become a dynamic platform for children and families to deepen their appreciation for nature and the importance of conservation,” the zoo wrote.

The Topeka Zoo said it would provide more details in the coming months. The zoo was unable to disclose the amount of the donation because it was asked to do so by the foundation.
