Green River 1885 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey combines tradition and innovation

Whiskey and bourbon drinkers are always on the lookout for new distillations, innovations or recipes. Although history and tradition always permeate the amber-colored liquor in the bottle, drinkers often want more. If the history matches the taste, the bottle gets a prime place on the bar shelf. With the Green River 1885 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, the distillers have captured this concept perfectly.

Many people know Green River. While the brand’s signature bottle has many people dropping coins into the slot at the table, Whiskey Without Regrets may have a storied history, but it’s far from stuck in the past.

In recent years, the spirits brand has offered various distillations and alcohol levels. Drinkers enjoy it neat or shaken in a cocktail. It is affordable in both taste and price.

Caryn Wells, national brand ambassador for Green River Distilling Co, said of the latest offering, “Mixed for classic cocktails, Green River 1885 is the ideal combination of taste and value. As with all Green River products, we honor our history while presenting bourbons that are relevant to what and how people drink today. It’s easy to say, ‘Make me an 85’ the next time you order a cocktail.”

The versatility of the bourbon whiskey is noticeable in the aroma. The bright orange peel with a hint of sweetness harmonizes well with an almond note. It is seductive and even a touch familiar.

From there, the warmth of cloves and spiced oak feels inviting. With sweet vanilla, a hint of honeycrisp apple, and some caramelly baking spices, it feels like a warm hug that lingers in the best way possible.

While this liquor tastes wonderful in a single ice cube, it’s even more delicious in a cocktail. In some ways, it’s a good idea to either accentuate the apple and spices or focus on the orange citrus. From a variation of an Old Fashioned to a twist on a Sidecar, there are many cocktail variations.

Additionally, it would be fun to experiment with a tea infusion and this bourbon whiskey. Many of the flavors would pair well with teas.

And finally, with a bottle price of $21.99, it’s a real bargain. There’s no excuse not to always have a bottle on the shelf.

The Green River 1885 will be released in limited quantities. Information on distribution and availability can be found on the brand’s website.
