Travel advisories and road closures

Festival visitors are encouraged to use public transport or bicycle where possible.

The nearest train station is in Abergavenny. Shuttle buses run from there to the festival site and back.

Organisers said connecting trains at Newport could be very crowded and urged visitors coming from London or the south-east to change at Hereford instead if possible.

A TfW spokesperson said there would be “on-call buses and crowd management support” at key festival locations.

“We will use all available train carriages and advise passengers to check their journey information on the TfW website, app or social media channels before travelling.”

On Monday, August 19th, the B4558 towards the festival site will be closed to all traffic.

Why is it called Green Man Festival?

According to the organizers, the festival is inspired by a mythical figure called the “Green Man.”

Each year, the festival presents a new Green Man sculpture, built from natural materials and then burned as part of the festival’s closing ceremony.
