Robert F. Kennedy‘S American History The world is expanding with a new anthology series focusing on the world of sports. American sports history fictionalizes various headline-grabbing events in the world of sports. The first season tells the story of former New England Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez. It tells the rise and fall of the player, whose story made headlines when he was arrested and charged with double murder, for which he was later acquitted. However, the ordeal was so unnerving that Hernandez committed suicide in prison. A new trailer for the season, premiering in September, reveals the layers of Hernandez’s complex world and what drove him to commit the aforementioned acts.

“You don’t know what I’m thinking,” the trailer begins as Hernandez gets his skin tattooed. Several scenes are shown one after the other, showing a world of violence, anger and football, with Hernandez at the center. “It’s like a demon,” he tries to explain what’s going on in his head. “What if God made me like this?” he asks, revealing his strong religious beliefs. But in the chaos of his existence, football is the only thing that keeps him sane. Hernandez racks up victories that catapult him to the top of the game, and soon he begins to live a different life.

The trailer is an interpretation of Future‘s “Mask Off” reveals secrets from Hernandez’s life. As the repetition of “mask on, mask off” continues, the trailer reveals the other side of his life. “You’re soft” is not an easy accusation to make in Hernandez’s homeland, where guns and violence are commonplace. To make matters worse, Hernandez is hiding an aspect of himself that would destroy his life. The trailer shows him beating up a man in a bathroom, revealing his queerness, which he hides at all costs but only confides in his cousin. “The drugs, the sex, the anger. Everything is OK when I’m playing ball,” he reveals his happy place.

But playing football doesn’t solve the many problems in his life, and soon Hernandez’s life is spiraling out of control. He is accused of double murder, and most of the murders involve people he was close friends with in his world outside of football. A player with the rest of his life ahead of him loses everything when the police arrest him.
