A few weeks ago, the legendary punk rocker, artist, author and style icon Kid Congo Powers electrified a full house at Fluffy cactusKid’s musical journey is legendary, with stints with Gun Club, The Cramps, Nick Cave and Kid Congo and the Pink Monkey Birds. The tour was in support of their latest album, This delicious vice, published on In the red records.
Supporting acts included Shawnis and the Shimmerstogether with the DC supergroup The owners. Michael D. Thorn from Razor blades & aspirin was on hand to capture the night in photos.
For those who don’t know, Kid Congo Powers, born Brian Tristan, is a legendary figure in the punk and rock scene. He is best known for his work as a guitarist with some legendary bands such as The Gun Club, The Cramps, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. As a California native, he was heavily influenced by the area’s Chicano rock bands. He has been a part of various influential music projects over the years, but his current band, The Pink Monkey Birds, really captures his eclectic style. Kid Congo is also famous for his unique punk aesthetic, where music and style seamlessly blend together to create an immersive experience. His career has spanned decades, and he is still making waves with his raw, soulful approach to rock and roll.
