New documentation about Elton-John And The Beatles are part of the Spotlight section of the New York Film Festival, which presents the most notable fall releases.

Elton John: Never too lateCo-directed by RJ Cutler and Elton’s husband, David Furnishfollows Elton during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and the description states that it “offers an in-depth look at a life and career marked by highs and devastating lows, and considers a legacy marked in equal measure by commitment and artistry.” Elton, Furnish and Cutler are expected to attend the premiere.

Also premiering at the festival will be TWST / Things we said todayby the Romanian director Andrei Ujicaabout the Beatles’ trip to New York in 1965 as headliner at Shea Stadium and Sidewalksan “illegal documentary” about Stephen Malkmus and the band sidewalk.

Elton’s documentary will make its US premiere at the festival; its premiere is already scheduled at the Toronto Film Festival, which runs from September 5 to 15. TWST / Things we said today And Sidewalks will make their North American premiere, and both are expected to debut at the Venice Film Festival, which runs August 28 to September 7.

The New York Film Festival takes place from 27 September to 14 October.
