The horror film The Front Room by the brothers of The Witch director Robert Eggers gets a new trailer
Almost two years have passed since A24 announced that production of the psychological horror film was underway The front roomwith Brandy Norwood (Queens, I still know what you did last summer) in the main role and Max and Sam Eggers – the younger brothers of The Witch, The Lighthouse, And The Northman Director Robert Eggers – at the helm. Now there are only a few weeks left until the film’s cinema release on 6 September(a date that puts it in direct competition with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice), and a new trailer has appeared online. Based on a short story by Susan Hill, The front room has the following summary: For newly pregnant Belinda (Brandy), everything goes wrong after her mother-in-law (Kathryn Hunter) moves in with her. When the devilish guest tries to get the child in his claws, Belinda has to draw the line somewhere… If you would like to read the source material of the short story, you can find it in Hill’s collection The Travel Bag and Other Ghost Stories. Joining the cast is Kathryn Hunter (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Andrew Burnap (We crashed) and Neal Huff (Headlights).
The front room is produced by A24, along with Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures and Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM. A24 is financing the project and handling the worldwide theatrical release. The film received a R Rating by the Motion Picture Association Rating Board for Language, some violent/disturbing content, brief sexual scenes and nudity.
Max Eggers was co-author The lighthouse with his brother Robert and was a production assistant on Robert’s 2008 short film adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s story The treacherous heartSam Eggers was also a production assistant on this short film and on The Witch. Sam also co-wrote and co-edited the 2018 documentary Olympicsabout actress Olympia Dukakis.
