Malaysia Airlines apologized after engine problems caused delays on a flight from Doha to Kuala Lumpur on August 12, leaving passengers frustrated and stranded at Hamad Airport.
Malaysia Airlines has apologised for the significant delay of a flight from Doha to Kuala Lumpur that left passengers stranded at Hamad International Airport. The delay, caused by engine problems, occurred on Monday, August 12, and quickly led to widespread frustration, with many passengers voicing their concerns on social media.
Flight MH165, scheduled to depart at 8:05 a.m. local time, was grounded due to an engine failure. The delay left passengers in a state of uncertainty and frustration as they awaited further news. Malaysia Airlines has assured that it is working diligently to resolve the technical issues.
To mitigate the situation, the airline rebooked the affected passengers on alternative Qatar Airways flights. In addition, some passengers were offered accommodation in nearby hotels in Doha as well as full board. Despite these efforts, many passengers expressed dissatisfaction with the airline’s response, particularly highlighting the lack of clear communication and support during the ordeal.
Among the stranded passengers was Annice Lyn, a local photojournalist returning from covering the 2024 Paris Olympics. Lyn reported that passengers’ passports were confiscated multiple times without being given any information about what would happen next. She also noted that passengers were not offered meals or care packages during the delay, further exacerbating the situation.
Malaysia Airlines continues to work to address concerns raised by passengers and is committed to improving its communication and support in future incidents.
