Resorts World Cruises has launched its Durian Party on board the Genting DreamThe cruise line promises a range of activities centered around the popular Southeast Asian fruit, known as the “Queen of Fruits.”
Known for its large size, unique smell and thorn-covered skin, the popular fruit is especially revered in countries like Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The flesh of the durian fruit ranges from pale yellow to red, the consistency is pudding-like and it is very sweet.
During the season, which usually runs from July to September and reaches its peak in August, the cruise company organizes 2-day durian cruises on Genting Dream Departures from Singapore on August 25 and September 1, 2024.
During the voyages, passengers will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a durian buffet, which showcases a variety of durian species, including premium varieties such as Musang King, Tan Sri Xo and Black Thorn. The buffet is complemented by a selection of other tropical fruits.
In addition, during the journey, which takes passengers to Kuala Lumpur via Port Klang, passengers can take part in educational master classes where they are shown how to select the best durian fruits.
“It’s durian season again and we are excited to celebrate with our durian party on Genting Dreamthat will offer our passengers a unique and unforgettable cruise experience,” said Michael Goh, President of Resorts World Cruises.

Genting Dream‘s Durian cruises will also feature the ship’s new mascot, Pin Pin, and characters from DurianBB & Friends, a company specializing in durian-related products and events. Guests can look forward to interactive activities, games and arts and crafts classes inspired by the fruit.
The entertainment program on board the 3,400-passenger ship includes live performances in Genting DreamsZodiac Theater with 1,000 seats. The ship also features a cinema, a water park with six water slides and adventure activities such as rope courses, zip lines and a climbing wall.
Upcoming special events
Looking ahead, Resorts World Cruises is preparing for further special Travel to Asia on board Genting Dreamincluding a concert by Hong Kong singer Chu Mimi during a three-day cruise from Penang to Kuala Lumpur on October 22, 2024.
Singaporean singer, songwriter, composer and playwright Dick Lee will take part in a two-day cruise to Kuala Lumpur on December 8, 2024.
Originally launched in 2016 and joining the fleet in 2022, the ship is currently celebrating National Day until August 31, 2024. These special voyages celebrate national days (independence days) in Singapore, India, Indonesia and Malaysia and also feature themed events and cuisine in honor of each nation.
From 15 to 30 September 2024, the 151,300 gross tonne ship Genting Dream Mid-Autumn Festival cruises will begin, offering traditional lantern making, dance lessons and other activities.
Resorts World Cruises, founded in 2022 under the Genting Group, also operates Resorts World One. Formerly known as Explorer’s dream Under Dream Cruises, the ship joined the fleet after an extensive renovation in 2022 and, with a gross tonnage of approximately 75,338, offers a more intimate environment for up to 1,856 passengers.
The ship is currently Sailing in Japanwith various short cruise options with stops in Naha, Miyakojima, Ishigaki, Sasebo, Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Kumamoto and Motobu.
