The forgotten romance between Doctor Doom And Storm makes an unexpected return to the Marvel brand and will appear on an upcoming variant cover. Ororo Munroe has had a handful of notable relationships over the years, including Black Panther, Forge, and arguably her true love Wolverine. Perhaps her most interesting potential romantic connection, however, was her often overlooked dynamic with Victor Von Doom.

Marvel has released Marco Checchetto’s alternate cover for Storm #1 – written by Murewa Ayodele, with art by Lucas Werneck – is part of a series of variants celebrating the appointment of Dr. Doom as the Marvel Universe’s newest Sorcerer Supreme.

Storm and Doctor Doom have been toying with the idea of ​​a romance since 1981. Uncanny X-Men #145, where Storm laid siege to Latveria to rescue a hijacked arcade. When they met, Doom and Storm shared food and flirted over an impromptu dinner. and even Storm was surprised at how delighted she was by Victor’s advances. As it turned out, Arcade was never caught because he had worked with Doom to capture the X-Men. Ultimately, Doom apologized to Storm and they agreed to come clean.

As with their first meeting, they had a flirtatious dinner, but again it ended in hostility.

In the past, Storm and Doctor Doom have always been too hesitant – perhaps even cautious – to engage in a real romance beyond flirtation. Even after aggressive confrontation, they usually end their relationship in a civil way, not for better or necessarily for worse, thus opening the door for another friendly meeting.
