Love Street Playhouse’s upcoming musical, “The Spitfire Grill,” premieres Friday, September 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Love Street Playhouse, 126 Loves Ave., Woodland.

Performances will be Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from September 6-29. There will also be a performance on Thursday, September 26. Sunday matinees will be at 2 p.m. To see the full schedule or to purchase tickets, visit lovestreetplayhouse.com or call 800-966-8865.

“The Spitfire Grill” is a musical based on the 1996 film by Lee David Zlotoff. James Valcq and Fred Alley wrote the musical adaptation, which was released in 2001.

The story centers on Percy Talbott, a young woman just released from prison. She finds employment at the Spitfire Grill, a run-down diner in a tight-knit community. The events that follow tell a story of healing, transformation and redemption for the town and its residents, according to a press release from the Love Street Playhouse.

“One of the things that attracted me to this script was the humanity of the characters. They are people we know. They are all flawed in their own way and need a second chance and forgiveness,” director Melissa Bareford said in the press release.

The Love Street Playhouse was founded in 2007 with the vision of having a community theater where “involvement of and for the community of Woodland, Washington, would help create a cultural space for learning and growing,” the theater’s website states.
