Colorado freshman BJ Green II brings versatility to the defensive line

The Colorado Buffaloes held their annual fall sports media day on Friday, and Arizona State transfer defensive lineman BJ Green II was one of several football players available for interviews.

Green comes to CU with a lot of fanfare. 247Sports listed him as a four-star transfer, and both the Big 12 media and Phil Steele gave him preseason All-Big 12 honors. The 6-foot-1, 275-pound player is listed as a defensive end, but if his highlights are anything to go by, you’ll likely see him rushing from just about anywhere this upcoming season.

When I asked Green on media day what he brings to CU’s defense, he immediately emphasized his versatility while also praising defensive coordinator Robert Livingston.

“Versatility,” Green said. “We’re a really talented group on the D-line. When it comes to third down and we need to pressure the passer, I can attack from anywhere, so we can get another edge rusher on the field and I can work inside. I really appreciate what Coach Livingston allows us to do. He really lets us just be who we are. He lets us attack. We play really fast and we play together.”
