El Paso police are working to identify a suspected peeping tom who allegedly videotaped a teenager in the dressing room of an East Side Target store.

The voyeurism occurred as the underage teen was changing clothes in the dressing room of the Target at 1901 George Dieter Drive off Montwood Drive at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8, Crime Stoppers of El Paso said. The unsolved case is the crime of the week.

Crime Stoppers said the unidentified man went into the locker area and began filming a teenager using one of the rooms. The teenager noticed the man filming with a cellphone under the door and quickly covered it up.

The alleged voyeur ran away and fled the store in a vehicle that witnesses described to police as a white SUV with two sunroofs.

The unidentified man is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, of medium build, with short dark hair, a mustache and possibly a goatee, as well as a tattoo on his right forearm that appears to be some sort of face, according to Crime Stoppers.

He was wearing a blue T-shirt with a logo on the left chest, gray or blue shorts, dark socks and light-colored Croc-style shoes, Crime Stoppers said in a news release.

Anyone who can identify the man in the Target store voyeurism case can anonymously call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 (TIPS) or leave a tip online at cselpaso.org. Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward if a tip leads to an arrest.

Voyeur in dressing room sentenced

In a recent report on a similar case last summer, Rene Solis, a convicted sex offender from San Elizario, pleaded guilty to secretly filming a girl and two women in a store’s dressing room.

In late July 2023, El Paso County Sheriff’s officials arrested Solis after he was accused of filming a girl and two women in the dressing room of the Goodwill store on Alameda Avenue in Socorro.

Solis, now 69, pleaded guilty to three counts of invasive imaging on June 12 in 168th District Court and was sentenced by Judge Marcos Lizarraga to 12 months in prison, court records show. He received credit for 320 days served in jail. Solis remains in prison.

According to court records and the Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender registry, Solis has previous convictions for violently videotaping a girl and breaking into a home with the intent to rape or sexually assault a 43-year-old woman in 2000.
