“Sharing is caring,” goes the old saying.
But the statements of this one woman caused great disappointment among some people (we are working on it).
Taste of Country reports that the incident in question occurred on Friday evening, August 2, in Portage, Illinois.
According to Region News Source, officers responded to a verbal argument between a customer and a manager at the local Apple’s Bar & Grill. The customer claimed she ordered the restaurant’s “All You Can Eat” offering because she thought she could share it with the patrons at her table.
However, if you read the fine print on Applebee’s website, it becomes clear that the “All You Can Eat” order is only “valid per person, per order. No sharing.”
And when the restaurant’s manager told the woman – later identified as Shawneesha Cobbs of Chicago – that everyone who attended the meal would have to pay $15.99, it didn’t go over well, according to Region News Source.
Wide Open Country further reports that although Cobbs claimed the manager behaved unprofessionally toward her during the verbal altercation, she herself started making a scene.
Region News Source explains that at one point, Cobbs began arguing with other customers and continued to scream, much to the dismay of those around her. Officers warned her twice to calm down or she would be arrested for disturbing the peace, which – after she continued her antics – is exactly what happened.
Cobbs was taken to the Porter County Jail and charged with a Class B misdemeanor of Public Disturbance.
It remains unclear whether the other members of her group paid for their share of the “All You Can Eat” menu at Applebee’s.
