NEW DELHI The article titled “Resolve to build a strong Party and a prosperous, powerful, democratic, equal and civilized Vietnam” by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and President Tô Lâm is a powerful vision statement highlighting the core priorities of the Party and the State of Vietnam today, according to an Indian professor.

Professor Archana Upadhyay of Jawaharlal Nehru University said in her interview with VNA that Lâm emphasized the government’s priorities and the superiority of institutions that would help Vietnam’s leaders and people achieve their goals, including transforming Vietnam into a high-income developed country by 2045. In her estimation, this will represent a significant leap from the country’s current status as a middle-income country.

The CPV’s pioneering role in the creative application and development of Marxism-Leninism, inspired by the brilliant leadership of the late President Hồ Chí Minh and his successors, will continue to shape and define Vietnam’s political landscape and its future goals.

The centrality of Vietnam’s national interests, rooted in its 4,000-year history of nation-building and defense, will serve as the foundation for all domestic and foreign policy priorities, Archana said.

In addition, the article identified both traditional and non-traditional 21st century security challenges facing the world, as well as opportunities for the fourth industrial revolution currently taking place around the world.

Vietnam is determined to seize these opportunities to continue its growth story with a strong spirit of self-reliance and self-confidence, the professor said, adding that his letter also highlighted the party’s important role in strengthening national unity and laying the foundation for a resilient society.

Archana also reiterated the commitment of Secretary General and President Tô Lâm to continue the anti-corruption campaign initiated by the late Party Secretary General Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

She pointed out that while Vietnam is opening a new chapter in its political history, it shows elements of both continuity and adaptation in its response to national and global challenges.

The party’s central role, rooted in pride in socialist reforms inspired by the Vietnamese people’s struggle against hostile powers, will drive the country’s future endeavours. And “bamboo diplomacy” will remain a cornerstone of Vietnam’s foreign policy as the country seeks to boost its international standing, Archana added. VNS
